In the Sun Rain by Liz Davinci

In the Sun Rain:

I sat outside watching the birds play

Hearing the highway
In my mainstay
Where I play
Earlier today
Saw the flowers go to seed
Orange tiles warm
Beneath my feet
Flood the storm
That brews with greed
With love
And with retreat
It’s a little
Like a riddle
Caught in the middle
Caught in the middle
Stuck in desire
Like a liar
Too scared to throw it
In the fire
But it’s required
Because I’m tired
Of the greed
And what it brings
I sat outside watching the birds play
Hearing the highway
Feeling the sun rain
As I write
And dream
And refine
What I mean
It doesn’t matter
What I’ve seen
In my mainstay
Today
